Sometimes it’s silver!

This is my stepdad’s 2017 Honda Ridgeline RTL in Lunar Silver. Just over 30k on the odometer. This is not his daily driver, but it does get used for hauling mulch or as a work truck when he does handyman jobs on the side. It has been taken care of by me since it was new, so I didn’t take any before pics as it was just generally dirty. He really wanted me to put a ceramic coating on it (it is garaged all the time), so after some extensive research I settled on McKee’s 37 SiO2 Ceramic Paint Coating. I have tried maybe a half dozen or so ceramic coatings over the years, and for one reason or another have been less than impressed. McKee’s Ceramic Coating seemed to fit the bill of what I personally wanted, and as it is a 3 year coating, should do nicely. It was extremely user friendly as well, which was a nice plus. Anyway, on to the process and products used.

Exterior

* Wheels and tires cleaned with Meguiar’s Non-Acid Wheel and Tire Cleaner
* Engine bay cleaned with Meguiar’s Super Degreaser, dressed with Sonus Trim and Motor Kote
* Undercarriage and bed were pressure washed, bed was cleaned with McKee’s 37 APC and a stiff brush
* Washed with McKee’s 37 Coating Prep Wash
* Iron decontamination with McKee’s 37 Iron Remover (there was minimal contamination so I probably could have skipped this step)
* Clayed with Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay and Meguiar’s Last Touch 1:1
* Hood and roof got 3D One with orange 5.5” LC CCS pads on GG6 due to some water spotting
* Rest of the truck was polished with McKee’s 37 Fast Finish on white 5.5” LC CCS pads and green 4” Buff and Shine pads
* Glass was polished with McKee’s 37 High Performance Glass Restorer, protected with McKee’s 37 Glass Coating
* Panel wipe with Blackfire Paint Prep spray
* Coated with McKee’s 37 SiO2 Ceramic Paint Coating
* Black trim was coated with CarPro DLux
* Smooth black trim protected with Ardex Viper Wax
* Wheel wells dressed with Sonus Trim and Motor Kote
* Tires dressed with McKee’s 37 SiO2 Tire Shine

Interior

Vacuum
* Plastics cleaned with McKee’s 37 Total Interior Cleaner
* Plastics protected with McKee’s 37 Total Interior Protectant
* Leather cleaned with McKee’s 37 Leather Shampoo
* Leather protected with McKee’s 37 Leather Conditioner
* Floor mats cleaned with McKee’s 37 Floor Mat and Cargo Liner Rejuvenator
* Glass cleaned with McKee’s 37 Krystal Vision glass cleaner

And a very detailed list of to-do tasks. My guess is this took 2 days?

Yes, this was a solid 2 days worth of work for me. I think it was worth it in the end though.
