Hi All,

Got a vinyl wrap on my Tesla and last week I noticed that it picked up some paint overspray in some areas from work being done in the neighborhood. I clayed the windshield which came out fine. Used Megs Professional Blue clay. Wondering if I should also use that on my vinyl wrap or some other clay/process that is less aggressive. I don't want to introduce any scratches or marring into the wrap. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would think a fine grade clay would be the tool of choice. I'm not sure where the Meg's stuff you have falls on the aggressiveness scale.

Meguiar's professional blue clay is mild. Their red is aggressive.

The white in the consumer kit is the lightest touch but I've read that might be really low quality clay now.

The blue stuff is probably ok.

I'm assuming that someone was getting some paint work done. Technically that would fall under the responsibility of the contractor for any damage. Take pics first. If you can't fix it, file a claim with the contractor.

Thanks all.

It was just some people spray painting their mailbox. My car was parked maybe 40+ feet away but with the wind I guess some paint particles made it over.

I'm looking to confirm what the lightest/softest/smoothest clay option would be. I know the Blue Megs is less aggressive than their red but I think it still could introduce some micromarring. Wish there was some kind of clay aggressiveness chart like we have for compounds and polishes. Pinnacle has the Ultra Fine Clay so maybe I try that to be on the safer side? Anyone have experience with it or claying vinyl in general?

Drives me nuts each time I see someone spray painting outside. They don't give a crap if it gets airborne and lands on someone else's car.

Any other thoughts on which clay is the least aggressive for use on a coated vinyl wrap?

I think the pinnacle is one of the finest. It’s not even supposed to strip wax from what I read.
