Shout-out and Thank You to John aka 2black1s

While in the middle of using a new product to write a new review my buddy Todd in the warehouse brought me a package from John aka 2black1s on this forum.

What's funny is I was using a razor blade to cut the box open and had John NOT places this message on the microfiber I would have used this same razor blade to cut it open.

I had know idea what this was going to be but after removing the microfiber towel I could plainly see the craftsmanship that went into this model wood truck.

The Flash Drive has an incredibly detailed Power Point Presentation that documents step-by-step how John started with a chunk of English Chestnut wood and ended up with the work-of-art you'll see on my desk.

Here's the custom, handcrafted wooden model truck on my desk and it's now my key holder.

Not sure what I'll use the compartment door for but maybe business cards?

Thank you John, I really appreciate the time and care you put into this artistic creation and it now has a permanent home on my desk.

Very cool way of saying thanks... Thank You Mike.

Maybe your keys will fit in the drawer and then use the bed for business cards. Using the bed for business cards is one of the thoughts I had in mind while making this. Plus putting business cards in the bed will hide one of the flaws that exist on the tailgate portion of the bed... There is a slight split in the wood that "moved" during the staining and polyurethane application. I wasn't happy about that but there was no easy way to correct at that point.

And just for clarity, English Chestnut is the stain color. The chunk of wood that this started out as is actually Eucalyptus - from a tree in my front yard.

I'm going back to my woodshop to start another little trinket today. It's one of my favorite places to be.

Gotcha. I thought it was the wood. This is why I'm NOT a wood working artisan... :D

It's good to have a hobby you're good at, excel at and enjoy.

Thank you again.

Great minds think alike... Or maybe all us detailers just have a knack for ensuring every possible thing gets double checked to make sure it turns out right.

A couple of weeks ago I sold some vintage Cadillac ads to a fellow enthusiast and I made sure to email him step by step pictures of how I packed them in order to give him a heads up on what to expect and how to safely open it without the possibility of damaging the contents.

I’ve had some close calls because not everyone packs things so carefully and I’ve never gotten a heads up.
