non-chrome glossy engine parts

A lot of my engine and tranny have glossy black paint.

Only thing I've ever done to them is wash and then do quick wipe with Harley Gloss Detailer.

Do you polish or try to deepen the gloss somehow? Do you use an LSP on it?

Harley gloss black engine covers - my opinion...

Personally, if it were me, I'd continue with what you're during now. Maybe substitute a spray wax, sealant, or coating in lieu of the Harley detailer, but that is only a maybe as I'm not familiar with the Harley product.

These parts are powder coated and are more durable than the painted "body" panels. As such they shouldn't need polishing as often. I would think with regular cleaning and a spray product noted above it would be rarely necessary to polish. The only time I would actually use a polish is to periodically remove any road film that doesn't come off with regular cleanings or other possible battle scarring.

That said, if you want to invest the time, nothing says that you can't polish and/or use a dedicated LSP on those parts. I just don't see it as a whole lot of "bang for the buck" effort.

I have always like the Harley Gloss....i know a lot of HD products get shade, but it was easy to apply and polish off and left a nice finish. Thanks again, my friend.

The detailing of my bike starts tonight. I've been kind of caught in the paralysis by analysis stage and decided, it needs to begin. :) Tonight is going to be mostly disassembly, bags, tour pack, tires, fenders...I plan on documenting the whole thing with pics.
