Complete owner history unknown.
Car came from Idaho and is proudly female owned in Southern California.
Front 2/3’ has clear coat and was most likely repainted.
Rear was oxidized and probably original condition.

Full detail:
ONR Hoseless Wash, soaked MF towels
in ONR solution. Paint dried on its own on the rear.
Two-stage polish:
FLEX XCE 18 gear driven cordless polisher using foamed wool, microfiber and foam pads.
I settled on 3D One compound & polish,
Xtreme Solutions LVR 403 acrylic resin glaze
Final protection with their LVR 357 Magnum Wax.

I am glad I did not second-guess putting the car up on jackstands. It was still kind of low to work on. The owner was ecstatic with the outcome. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210407/b267adc794d5b301c00e2cf57cd66cf2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210407/867a12c1b96729935692ed4ce3042eff.jpg

To date, this is the oldest car I’ve detailed and perhaps the most enjoyable due to the turn around. And it’s my first time polishing single stage paint. So much gloss! Lots of pad cleaning, too.

Great job! Single stage is enjoyable to polish, especially red. How do you like the Xtreme products?

^^Agree, looks great!

Also, how easy was removal of the LVR 403? I'm assuming it works okay on clear coated paint as well?

Lee, I leave the 403 on the paint for about thirty minutes and it wipes off like butter. So smooth and slick once removed. Those acrylic resins go to work and bond quite well on old or new finishes. You can add whatever protection you wish (optional cure time
would be overnight to 24 hours).

Their entire product line is a pleasure to work with. Great for outdoor detailing, as well. LVR 403 & 404 Helios glazes are my preferred polishes, be it an enhancement or second step of a two-stage polish.

I’ll leave it at that out of respect to the AG forum.

Wow, there's some nice cars in the background of these photos!

The Miata looks great, those little cars are gems. How are you liking the cordless Flex XCE? The more I think about it the more I want one.

The little red 2 seater that revived the "Roadster" trend. Small, nimble, loved to be run through the gears, and best of all.... pop up headlights.. LOL

The luggage rack is a weird add on. Never seen a tied down luggage to the trunk of a roadster on the road....ever !!!

Great save on your part... No way its a 29 years old car. :wowwow:

Those luggage racks were pretty popular. I had one on my 90 Miata.

If I was driving an MG TA etc, I’d need that rack but the Miata I’m not so sure.

Yeah, the luggage rack is a classic touch. However, I removed the top part to polish the paint. I really do enjoy the cordless FLEX XCE. I used that and the FLEX 3” polisher for the entire detail.

Here’s a before & after contrast of the single stage paint’s oxidation:

...and with the polishing glaze on the right, before wipe off:

My aunt's red 91 had one as well.
