On my Tacoma I had waxed it with Griots Liquid Poly wax Griots Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax is an easy on, easy off car wax that lasts up to 6 months! (https://www.autogeek.net/griots-garage-liquid-poly-wax.html)
When the dog hangs his head out the window the drool goes down the side of the car.:)
After washing I could still see the drool streaks . Looks like they etched the wax. So I cleaned again and then used some Griots one step Griot's Garage One-Step Sealant, One Step Paint Sealant, liquid car wax sealant (https://www.autogeek.net/griots-one-step-sealant.html) .
Streaks were gone until next trip with the dog
Would Topping the wax with Sonax Polymer Net Shield protect this so it just washes off? or is a Ceramic coating the only alternative?

Dog drool is a mysterious substance. I get the same thing from my dog on a coated car. The drool is really hard to remove no matter what LSP is used.

I've had to use an APC to remove it and some gentle rubbing. QD's and other cleaning products, to include car wash shampoo, doesn't totally remove it.

You should have seen my customer's face when she found out that her dog's drool had stained the leather on her 200 mile Macan S.
