I charge $275 base price for an internal XL vehicle. That would have likey taken me 8 hours or more. $500 is what I would have charged. As stated above, you need to have an extra dirty vehicle surcharge. What vehicle is it and how many hours did you have in to it? How much did you charge?

I made a previous thread about how I am new to the area I am starting to detail out of. As stated in it I am having problems on pricing the new area. Its mainly a rural area and the median Income for individual is around 20K and the household is around 40k. The area I came from just the median individual median income was 50k. anyways, I charged $175 and almost took me 10 hours.

After taxes you made about $127
Then minus materials, whatever that was....say $27.

So when its all said and done you made $100 ÷ 10 hrs = $10/hr.

You got burnt for $175. What is YOUR time worth? Are you doing this full time? Or are you doing this as a side gig outside of a full time job?

I have a job but I am trying to do this full time because I love detailing. I do on average about two cars a week outside of my job.

Definitely looks and sounds like you aren't charging enough. Side gig or not, that job looked like it should have cost more. You and everyone in the business def needs an extra dirty surcharge as mentioned...

That vehicle was a mess, and I agree with everyone else that you didn't make enough based on hours spent cleaning.

However, you seem to live in an area where people don't have a lot of money. The only estimate given in this thread stated $500 for that vehicle. To someone making $20k, that's a whole 2-week paycheck. If you enjoy doing this for some money on the side, then charge whatever you want and gain experience with your side hustle. If you want to detail full-time, it sounds like you will have to move again.

Whoa......pretty impressive turn around. While I feel you could have charged more, hopefully you picked up a customer for life and some good word of mouth press from it.

Never touch a vehicle like that without inspecting it and quoting it first. I start at 10 years old or older, so if it's a 2011 and they want an interior detail, I will give them a general idea but I let them know up front that all vehicles 10 years old will be inspected and quoted first. Most people say whatever, just do it, because they need it done and they're not going to do it. Ten hours? By myself, $500-600, although honestly with my experience and you being new to the game, it wouldn't have taken me 10 hours, so let's say probably more like $400.
