View Full Version : PB Bug Squash - Anyone still use it? Especially as a Pre-Wash?

Hey Guys,

I use BS as a pre-wash and looking to reorder, but was wondering what people are using for a pre-wash, both foaming and non-foaming? Will be using on both a coated and non-coated car. Cars get fairly dirty between washes.

At 3:1 dilution of BS, has anyone see degradation of sealants (ie, PNS) after repeated use (every wash) or even CQUK3.0?

I'm also looking at:
-Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam
-CarPro Lift - would it degrade sealants or coatings using it every wash?
-Any others?

Or is BS still the way to go?

Thanks,
Geoguy

I just asked Avi from carpro he said as long as you use it at 10:1. It will be fine on a coating. not sure about sealants. I think it states might degrade sealants @ waxes.

I use Griots surface wash and Bilt Hamber Autofoam. I think lift would probably not be great on sealants but fine on coatings

BHAF is also alkaline and it decons my coating jist fine but on my hood which was left bare for sio2 sealant testing, all products would degrade all or somewhat.

Love the stuff...Still use it if I get into a love bug problem a couple times a year…I’ve never seen it degrade anything… Except the bugs…I love 2 poorboys products: bug squash and natural look, I’ve never found anything better in their respective categories…

I use it for more than just prep before polish.
I use it as a maintance item thru the summer.
I guess now I know

I still use it all the time.

When I was still applying sealants as my LSP, I would notice it would effect the beading some when used heavily after removing a really bad bug mess (i.e. after a road trip in the summer). Hitting the area with a good spray sealant fixed everything and gave the LSP a boost.

On coatings like CQUK I've never noticed it to have any effect at all and I've tried CanCoat, two versions of UQUK, and the original McKee's 37 coating.

I use it all the time in the warm months. I always use it diluted 3:1 and spray it on and let it "work" for a couple of minutes before washing. My cars are now coated and I have not noted any degradation of the coating. When I used sealants I did note some minor degrading (more so with carnauba waxes) but a fresh sealant spray or carnauba wax would solve this minor matter. BS also works well as a tar remover. Until I hear of a better product, this is my go to bug/tar wash.

For tar removal, I found Stoner's Tarminator to work much better. The Stoner's also does a pretty good job as and adhesive remover too.

Will let you know about Lift....got a bottle coming on Saturday....plan on using it next week when our weather breaks. Will probably hit it with a topper of Ethos Defy afterwards....the sealant is several months old and will probably be impacted anyway.

Lift is a nice product.
I have 3 in my rotation currently and will list them accordingly.

1-McKee’s coating prep wash
2-CarPro Lift
3-Griots foaming surface wash

Is that in order of their aggressiveness?

To me, yes. But Lift & McKee’s are quite similar in strength. McKee’s is a little cheaper and dilution is a little better. I have been buying Griots & McKee’s by the gallon for a while. Almost through my first quart of lift. Will be buying the gallon when it becomes available though.
