what is the best protection to use on polished alluminum wheels no clear coat. i know i will have to polish every now and then to keep them looking good but do not want to be a slave to them either

Clear coating them is the best option. Ceramic coatings don't last long on bare metal and as you mentioned you will find yourself polishing anyway. The next best alternative that I have found for bare metal is following up with the product I have linked. I am sure the blackfire one is the same product.

Wenol blue is available as is Dr. Beasley's metal coat through Autogeek.
