I washed my car today in sunny Florida...after I washed it...I used WF deep gloss spritz sealant and I was using a good microfiber towel...and the funny thing...as I was taking the sealant off....it sounded like sandpaper....never heard that before...please don't laugh that's the best I can explain....I do wear hearing aids and had them on a higher level then before...one thing last week I used BF midnight sun...carnauba wax...not sure if that would do it...I keep my car products in the garage, and our weather does get into the mid 30"s..not sure if the colder weather will hurt the products...LOL its happy hour at our house but I only had one drink.so I am not drunk

Hey! Sounds like the car needs to be decontaminated (Clay and/or Iron remover)

When is the last this was done?

Take a plastic bag, put on hand and rub the paint, if it feels rough or gritty, which I am assuming it will based on your description, then it needs to be decon'd

If the paint is smooth and looks good i wouldn’t worry about it to much. Maybe just HA volume to high.

Get cheap sandwich bags and place them on your hand while you touch the car slowly. If it feels rough you will need to clay bar. The bag makes it easier to feel imbedded impurities on the paint.

It's the Carnauba. Same thing happened to me last summer. I tried HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC ACRYLIC BLACK WAX and the paint felt like sandpaper the next time I washed it. Washed it twice and the paint still felt like sandpaper. I had to get the claybar out to get the paint smooth again. The HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC ACRYLIC BLACK WAX contained Carnuba. Haven't used that product again and haven't had any problems. Pretty sure the Carnauba liquifies in the Florida sun, and traps the contaminants when it solidifies. If I ever try a natural wax product again (unlikely) it will be Montan wax only.

I gotta say maintaining a car in South Florida that sits out 24/7 in the Sun is a royal PITA. So many products just don't work well in this environment.

The trouble with me I try to use to many different products...I been using BF SIO2 sealant and was happy with it going back to using that. Also my car sits out 24/7..be safe
