Which hand held light do you guys (or gals) like to use?

Scangrip handheld. If you want something locally then the Braun handheld from Harbor Freight which is similar to the first generation Scangrip.

OK, took out the batteries 4times and tweaked some stuff, and were back in business

Better products elsewhere and with color matching. I paid just under $60 for a replacement exactly 3 years ago to replace my brinkman. It is still brand-spanking new, simpler to operate and does the deed. Brinkman was niche until LED lighting with significant power came to market.

I have a Brinkman as well. Havent used it in years. I converted to LEDs years ago. I use scansgrip exclusively now. I like the fact it has different settings for light intensity.

Is it possible to spot micro marring with the Braun handheld light?
