View Full Version : Rupes Uno one / Meg's Ultimate / Menzerna SF3500 question

Hi all! I'm getting ready to compound and polish my car. I'm planning on using Meg's Ultimate Compound followed by their Ultimate Polish and finish with either the Menzerna SF3500 or Rupes Uno Pure. I'm not sure which would be the better finishing polish though. I know the Menzerna is a SMAT polish but I don't know what the Rupes is to be honest? Which of those is the finer polish. Would it be better to skip the Meg's polish and go to the Menzerna then Rupes Uno or vice versa? The care is a Toyota so soft paint from what I've read. Thanks!

Give it a test spot with one of those polishes after the compound stage. You may only need two steps rather than three. Actually give it a test spot with ultimate polish first and go adjust from there.

Thanks. I don't actually have the Rupes Uno Pure yet. I've been fixing some rock chips and prepping for ppf installation and working by hand I have noticed a slight improvement by following the Meg's polish with the Menzerna. My technique has been Ultimate Compound then Ultimate Polish then the Menzerna. While not a huge difference there is an improvement finishing with the Menzerna. Just using the Ultimate Polish, at least by hand, hasn't been able to get the swirls out.

So far yes. I did get a DA but have been working on small areas by hand to do a partial PPF install. My process has been Meg's compound with a microfiber pad followed by the Meg's polish on a microfiber finished with the Menzerna on a foam pad.

Working by hand isn't going to remove much in the way of defects.

Well I sure wouldn't want to do the whole car like I've been doing but I beg to differ somewhat. With enough time and elbow grease I can make a small area, 12 x 12 inches or so (which is what I've been working on) perfect with the three steps I posted above. Now trying to do the whole hood like that would probably be enough to turn me off of detailing forever. :laughing:

More interested in if the Uno Pure would be a replacement for the Meg's UP or the Menz SF3500. There just doesn't seem to be much information on where it falls into line out there or I'm not looking in the right place.
