The client took delivery of this Model Y about a month ago. The car spent the first 2 weeks of its life at the Tesla Service Center. Apparently, it is quite common for the Tesla line of vehicles due to fitment issues. The client contacted me while the car was in the Service Center.

Fast forward to this weekend...

The Model Y was definitely a "5 footer" as it looked pretty good from that distance.

Upon inspection... the usual defects appears but I was surprised to see this on a car this new. This is a daily driver and the client only drove it for 2 weeks.

The client was budget minded so a multi stage correction was not in the cards. I been using CarPro Essence mainly as a glaze/coating-primer for the last few years. I know it has some correcting capabilities and I thought this would be the perfect time to see how far I could go with this. I will do a separate post regarding this experience.

Nice work on that finicky paint! Everyone I have worked on has had terrible panel fit/gap issues and not the greatest paint. Cool cars though.

Tesla's manufacturing system is a joke. I know people throughout the industry who have left major auto OEMs to go to work at Tesla and thought that they could help right the ship with their extensive background/experience in manufacturing. Afterwards, their general consensus is "broken beyond repair" and attribute a lot of that to the leadership's gawd complex.

thanks Sizzle...

You anit kidding about that finicky paint. dont get me started.. lol I would have taken a different approach to it for not me being so fixed on using Essence to do this.

the Y is a cool car. The owner let me drove it on the freeway after i was done. I grew up in the days of muscle cars so I find the driving experience a little strange. This car hauls !!! But... I missed the theatrics when an car is being pushed (the roar of the exhaust and the groans of the engine) ... Its like driving an Ipad on the Y. lol

Thanks Rambler...

I do believe they look at themselves as a tech company rather than a car company. The tech on Tesla is amazing but I do wonder about their approach in building cars. For example: Model 3 and Model Y are sister cars but the dimensions as well as the ride height are different. Instead of designing front seats that would be appropriate for the ride height, they took the exact model 3 seats and mount them on platforms.
