Can you guys ID these marks? The first one I believe is an etching, but the second one I have no idea about. They’re on my girlfriend’s car and I’d like to get them off. Just now noticing the poor quality on the second photo. Sorry about that. The mark sits under the passenger side mirror. It’s closer to black than it looks in the picture. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200902/ca4fca231a77a9336aa86110eb0744e3.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200902/ca4fca231a77a9336aa86110eb0744e3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200902/dc95550fb35738632391576de7678b4c.jpg

I would remove that bird bomb and machine polish that ASAP, my man. :)

Thanks, Paul. That’s the plan. Her entire car is kind of disastrous. Trying to ID these marks before I (hopefully) get rid of them.

Good luck, my man.

And the AGO community is here. :)

Hopefully they are new and can be removed before they damage the paint. If they are old (baked into the paint), then you will probably only be able to make them smooth, as they are etched into the paint. I have several of these on my truck from 'the dark days' before I found AGO!

Bird and or chemical etchings. You should start with a polish but it will very likely will have to remove them with a heat gun on low setting and re-flow the clear coat. Go very slow, lightly allowing cooling cycles. My guess is 4-6 cycles needed.
