This Ford Lightning was brought to me literally right out of the barn and had been sitting for many years.
Needlessly to say it needed a ton of restoration & refinishing work just about everywhere including interior and engine bay.
My first step was to remove the seats allowing me to have much more room to work with comfortably and to address more hidden areas.
Here is a break down of the process:
Engine Bay First: Started with a heavy degreaser from meguiars , along with various brushes and many multiple passes scrubbing and pressure washing. After that was to my liking I then dressed and leaf blown hyper dressing diluted to my liking then wiped of big chunks of plastic to a satin finish.
Interior: As stated I removed the seats with two simple 10mm bolts and took them out by myself. After that I did multiple drill passes with my dewalt and a carpet brush many times before even considering getting it saturated with product.
Then took side plastics off and attended to underneath problems. Then various vacuuming and drill agitations with all purpose cleaner with my vacuum. No extractor was used. Then door panels and dash got completely scrubbed and dressed with a nice dose of aerospace 303 protective shield.
Exterior: first was a heavy multiple wash process with my foam cannon and mitts and pressure washer including dawn dish soap to really clean. Then clay bar pad to remove top layer of film off. After that it got a heavy fast correction cream followed with 3D speed and topped with HDpoxy. Pads used were griots garage microfiber cutting and buff & shine yellow finishing.
Wheels & tires got extreme passes and dressed as well. Also both decals and fender badges were removed for new owner to order new ones.
Sorry for the long post but thought you guys might enjoy seeing this one.
Was a project a few months back.
