Hi Gang,
I have a 2008 corvette with a plexiglass roof. I have used plexus, sealants and waxes over the last 12 years. I am in the process of doing a complete detailing on the car and would like to know what can I use to polish then seal the roof.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

•My 2007’s Lexan top had an OEM “hard coat”
applied. As such: I only used glass cleaners on it.
-BTW: It still looked like new when I sold the vehicle
in 2015.

OK...Back to your top:

•You’ll find it quite the daunting task to polish
yours if it, too, had the OEM “hard coat” applied.

-With the success you’ve had so far (12 years),
I’ll suggest that you continue using the same
Waxing/sealing products.

My guess is it's LEXAN - not Plexiglass.

The world stopped using Plexiglass a long time ago. Too bad in my opinion as Plexiglass is SOFT and easy to work on. This Corvette back window is REAL Plexiglass.

Polishing Plexiglas to be as clear as glass using Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-mike-phillips-your-detailing-questions-/122394-polishing-plexiglas-clear-glass-using-pinnacle-advanced-finishing-polish.html)

And the first sentence in the first paragraph from my article above,

First a couple of things....

1: Plexiglas is NOT like most modern plastics. It's very SOFT.

My 2 cents....

I've NEVER seen Lexan polished to look clear and perfect like glass.

I've tried. By this I mean, I've tried to machine polish Lexan to remove swirls and scratches.

It's been a few years but I couldn't do it with the abrasive technology available back then. I could make it look "better" but nowhere near good and far from perfect.

Might be possible today but always do a,

FYI, window cleaners and any other products which contain ammonia will damage polycarbonate Lexan.

I have and use and LOVE Rolite Medium and fine Polishes which are specifically made for Plastic & Acrylic Surfaces Including Marine Strataglass & Eisenglass. I mainly use them on headlights and tail lights. Well worth looking into.

Did you mean rv roof cleaning?

I don't see anyone talking about RV roofs?
