Hello, i'm currently in the process of cleaning the seats in my mk6 golf. The previous owners had smoked in the car and as the result the seats are saturated in nicotine. I've already removed and deep cleaned the seat covers. However, I can't really seem to think of a way to deep clean the actual foam. Using a wetvac and brush wasn't effective enough and while I could be wrong I doubt soaking it in a bathtub is a good idea (how would I even dry it after?). Does anyone have any experience with this? Purchasing replacement foam is far too expensive.

For those interested here's photos of the cleaned seat covers.

I think if you add too much water it will stay moist creating mold

I mean if you could lightly mist with all purpose cleaner, and lightly scrub you still run the risk of damaging it. The only other option is throwing in there like an odor eliminator type of thing from Mothers.

Short answer, you cannot remove that nicotine smell if it truly is saturated into the seat foam. We had that discussion during the Mobile Tech sessions in January and the common solution was to NOT use any deep cleaning. Too much problem with it wet, drying it out, and still have the smell. Replace the foam sections and clean up the fabric or leather the best you can.

That's what ill do. Out of curiosity did anyone try throwing the foam cushion in the dryer?
