Hi All,

I have been getting yellow blotches on my white Subaru WRX. The car is coated with opticoat.
Does anyone know what these stains are and how to go about removing them?
If I use an abrasive to remove them how do I go about recoating the area?
Picture below is hard to tell, but it is a light yellow blotch.

Can’t really see the stains. Are they in the paint or can you feel them w your hand? What have you tried so far? Have you washed the car or clayed that spot lightly? Most of my cars are white and the stains I get on my paint currently are usually from Wet leaves that sit on the hood or trunk. They usually wash right off or a light clay gets the job done. If you don’t want to clay the spot maybe try a little tar remover and wash off w soap, water and a soft mitt.

Hard to see anything in this photo. If you have opticoat and you clay or polish, you will void the warranty. You will not have access to opticoat. Now if it is Gloss Coat anyone can use that.

If it is opticoat you may want to reach out to your opticoat installer.

Yellow spots that won't come off are common on white cars. Near as I can tell they are caused by a bug that leaves the yellow spot behind. I think they leave spots on other color cars but you just don't notice them; but they standout on a white car. You can polish them but they won't come out, they will dim but not come out. I have found that if left in the sun over time they will disappear. Best I have found after dealing with them for 20 years.

I see the spots. Talk to the original detailer who opticoated your car and see if it's something he can do.
