I've been doing some research into this and haven't found a whole lot. Some of the coatings (like Line-X ultra) seem to do the job but are permanent and pricey (basically a paint). Others like XPEL trackwrap or trakktape or track armour are temporary. I have thought that a ppf like xpel that could stick to plastic would be perfect but it seems nothing like that exists that would stay onto most exterior (especially textured) plastic trim due to offgassing and/or texture. Some people say vinyl wraps will work others say it depends on the plastic.

Basically only vinyl wrap, and it'll only protect for as deep as it goes. It does depend on the plastic, if something can even be adhered to it.
