A friend of mine told me about these like 6 months ago. Last week I finally decided to spend the $ on it and give it a shot.

I used it this morning for the first time and decided I should let all my detailing brothers and sisters know about it incase they have always wished they had something for this.

Its called the Hatch Jammer (I got it on Amaz**). Its an automotive painters thing that hooks to the latch of the trunk or hatch of a vehicle and holds it open for you to paint or in our case polish that area VERY EASY.

Let me tell you, I love it! Ive done quite a few of these Yaris' and many other vehicles struggling holding the hatch/trunk up while polishing it. This thing is a god send. You can adjust it AND they make an extension or an XL version too. I just installed it on my Ion to try it on a trunk vehicle and today I polished the hatch of this Yaris using it. I wish I would have spent the $ earlier.

Except there are a couple things I didnt mention that make this better.
#1 It locks into the latch of the car not allowing the trunk/hatch to move down OR up so it is much safer.
#2 This when latched into most newer vehicles trunk/hatches will also shut the trunk light off so you dont wear down the battery.

I know, but it reminded me that I left out a pretty important part.

That would be a handy tool. I'm always propping up the trunk or tailgate with a box or something

Snatched up a similar device one winter when I couldn't think of anything else to buy. Quite handy for propping open doors, hoods and trunks/hatchbacks. Definitely not a necessity but a handy luxury.

I had thought about making something like this for a long time. Never got around to it, then I found out one existed and made by Kamikazi. They have a small version as well, I believe, for like propping the doors. Neat gadgets, but those are expensive. I'll stick to using MF wrapped bottle, or look into this one

I won't post links or photos of the Kami units. Not even sure you can get them in the states any more.
