The IPA vs other prep wipe starts at 5:30 in video. .....It’s a good thing most coatings have naphtha or other solvent in them to cut through the majority of polishing oil left on surface.

Okay, my pic has nothing to do with IPA vs Panel Wipe type products, but this is the polisher my dad use to use in maybe 1983. I for one am glad for change that makes things better. Could you imagine using this polisher today? I mean technically if I HAD no other choice but to use such a beast, I don't know if I even would.

IMHO IPA works well enough as a polisher remover, but I'm a detailer and something working just good enough isn't gonna cut it for me.

I dawn wash if I’m coating then have been using megs glass cleaner for final wipe down. Meg’s glass cleaner has alcohol and methanol solvent so it’s a little stronger

Optimum Paint Prep by the gallon is fairly cost effective. Works great.

Haven’t watched the video so don’t know what they are showing.

My stance has always been IPA is not a good lubricant. If you use it you risk marring the paint. You might not see this on light colors but if it’s happening to black and dark colors it’s happening to light colors your eyes just can’t see it.

Marring the paint is the kind fluffy way to say scratching the paint.

Scratching the paint after removing the scratches is what I call working backwards.

Dulling the paint after polishing the paint using harsh solvents is also working backwards.

When it comes to the art of polishing paint - don’t work backwards.

I’ve know Kelly Harris for year via SEMA and did a presentation with him at Waxstock - not only is he the real-deal when it comes to the craft of car detailing and the art of polishing paint, he’s also a genuinely nice guy.
