Hello I haven't posted here in awhile, since southern Ontario has been in a deep freeze since around Nov 07 and its hard to think about detailing my Toyota when its covered in 6 inches of snow. Anyways, the Rav4 is my wifes daily driver so needless to say that the carpets look like crap I have the pics of inside and some exterior shots below. I am not against removing items such as the front seats if that would make my job easier. What products do you guys recommend to make the carpets look new again. I do have the pantsaver style mats but obviously the coverage is not complete and my wife is not the car nut that I am. I hope the two coats of Collnite 845 I applied in the late fall did their job. A step by step tutorial on the best method to restore my carpets would really be helpful. I would appreciate readily available products and I don't own a water extractor but I do have a wet/dry vac. I thank you in advance, and I have learned so much from you guys and gals on this forum.

It does not look like the carpets are bad enough to take the effort to remove the seats. My opinion on what i would do to restore the carpets is.
1. Remove all mats and dry vacuum all the carpet, using the crevice attachment to get in the tight areas and under the seats(if you own an air compressor blow all the debries out from under the seat then vacuum again)

2. Use a mixture of either carpet shampoo and water, I just use APC and water and brush it in the the carpet one section at a time(without soaking the carpet) then just extract the carpets with the wet/dry vac and give yourself the proper time to let the carpets dry

3. Order eliminator optional

ps. I live in Calgary Alberta so i know exactly how you feel. I have to do this to my carpets every spring.

what's up with you guys in Canada with rubber mats? This is the second time I have seen a RAV4 with rubber mats from north of 49, throw them away and get carpet mats

Why?

rubber mats dump crap on the interior carpet below because the snow/salt/crap melts and ends up over the side

with a carpet mat it will end up in the mat, simply take the mat out and clean, my RAV4 has carpet mats as does my 1992 Mazda and both have the carpet below is in like new condition, I have lived in MN & ND all my life and am well used to snow

dump the rubber mats!!!!!!!

I kind of felt like not sacrificing the OEM mats from Toyota and I just save them in new condition until the good weather comes. Maybe I will have to try your suggestion and see how its works out. I guess I could just buy some cheap carpet mats.
