I was wondering if anyone uses those plastic dryer balls with their microfiber towels? I know fabric softeners are a big no-no, but what about these to fluff them up a bit?

Anyone pre-wash their brand new microfibers, as I see some companies recommend to do so on the packages?

I have read about quite a few members using them. I use them because it helps prevent the towels from sticking together due to static. just make sure you visually inspect before tossing them in. Sometimes debris will get lodged in them if you just have them laying around.

I have not used them, opting to pull them apart but I would suspect these balls would be fine to use as long as they do not have a softening chemical in or on the surface and as you check them for lint etc as SNP209 mentioned.

Yep I have been using them for years.

I've never had a need to fluff my microfibers... they always come out fluffy on their own.

But sounds like these will be fine to use.

Never needed to use those before, but i see no issue with using them.

Yes, I always wash brand new microfiber towels before using them on a vehicle.
