....to remove swirls? I have a PCXP, green, orange and white LC pads coupled with BF AIO. Still I swirl. What can I do differently, or did I answer my own question in the title?

I am experimenting on 10 year old Korean paint.

If the AIO is not getting them out then you may need something more aggressive in a polish or compound.

Are you saying that you cannot remove the swirls?

Or, are you saying that you are instilling swirls while working the BF One Step?

What SIZE pads and how thick?

The Porter Cable is as reliable as rain but it’s also one of the weakest free spinning random orbital Polishers on the market.

It works best with 5.5” THIN foam pads.

Also - you must run this tool at full speed to remove paint. Removing paint I.e. leveling the surface is how you remove swirls.

With the LC thinpro pads, you can get away with speed 5 on the 7424XP as long as you're paying contention (I mean attention!) Speed 6 will almost make you want to commit Hari Kari.

Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, and WG Uber Compound will do you no wrong! Not much said about these two anymore lately. Both killer, and both worth having in anyone's arsenal.

BF One Step works GREAT! Has to be a problem somewhere else.

Yeah, not removing them. Mike P....5.5 thick pads. Do they not have a future with the XP? Switch to thin? I see the XP's orbit stall with my marked backing plate. I am hesitant to upgrade the machine as that is another story....maybe in the future, not today.

Use speed 6, 4-6 passes with slow to medium arm movement...that should do it as long as the pad is rotating, make sure you mark the backing plate so you can see if the da is stalling.

BF one step is awesome, works great on soft and medium-hard paints wonderfully!

Thanks to you all for the feedback. I think my expectations were a little high with the machine, pad and AIO combination. Even with this proven array of detailing tools, one needs patience. I will take Jayfro's advice and have at it today.

Going to go with Jayfro's advice and a healthy heap of patience, I reckon my expectations were a bit amped up with the proven combination of tool/chemical/pad. I realize this is a time consuming project/hobby.

Sorry for the multiple replies, did not see "awaiting mod approval"

Yeah, possible with thick pads you might have to up the speed to 6. And like has been said, mark your backing plate if you've not done so to keep track of and monitor pad rotation.

I never used this AIO, so I'm unsure of the working time it has. Study what's said about this product.

If the pads get over saturated with product, either clean on the fly with a towel, or better yet switch to a fresh clean pad.
