There are two stain marks that appear to be beneath the clear coat as the surface is smooth. They are located on the lower driver's door where road grime and dirt kick up. I've tried some basic scratch remover, clay bar, and denatured alcohol as that's what I have on hand in my garage, but they've made zero difference. The marks look like they could be rust, but I don't know if that's it. No other marks around the car like this. Any idea what I could do or use to remove it?

Any way to get closer?

I can't tell exactly what they are from those pics....

Looks like rust to me. Got any Iron-X? If it turns red it’s rust.

This about the best I can do with the pics for now.

I don't have any Iron-X. Never heard of it before, but I have a little bottle on order to see if it'll do the trick. Appreciate the suggestion.

UPDATE: Iron-X didn't do anything to it.

How old is the car? It looks like rust, but you say it’s smooth, which makes it sound like it’s beneath the clear coat. If the car is within the rust through warranty, I would take to the dealer. Maybe they’ll respray it for you. Very odd tho.

Car is 2014 and has 20K miles on it, but it's out of the bumper to bumper warranty unfortunately.

Rust through is typically much longer than standard warranty... like 10 years. What brand of car?

Yikes. 5/100. Maybe they know their treatment process isn’t great. Most cars are a lot longer time duration.
