So a friend of mind from a racing forum I'm a member of came to me with his RX7 that's been in storage and ridden with dust and holograms from the last person who polished on it using a rotary but didn't have the best handle of using such a tool. The goal here was to get it ready inside and out and under the hood so he could list a respectable looking RX7 for sale.

My Clean & Prep for Sale or Trade package is targeted at vehicles that are in need of a strong exterior and interior clean up prior to selling or trading the vehicle where the current owner does not want to invest in a machine polish yet does want to maximize the appearance and offer a freshly cleaned and protected vehicle.

What we agreed to was a custom package that involved a nice light polish with CarPro Essence which effectively knocked-down the swirls and and absolutely removed those buffer trail holograms. Overall the car actually came out better than even I expected for such a light polish.

Next came the interior which was basically a full wipe down of every surface and crack and joint to remove months of dust. Same for under the hood only that's where things can be tricky given the mods and exposed items and sensitive electronics so I traded lightly and achieved what Joe was looking for in the way of clean up. I can't wait to get my Tornador up and running. This would have been the perfect car for it. Overall, I feel the car is very presentable now and clean up will no longer be an issue for the upcoming sale.

Now onto a few pics.

This pic is a bit embarrassing for me as the short drive down the street to turn it around kicked up a lot of dust that I wasn't as aware of until after the shots were taken. The joys of pure black....ugh.

Great work and write up and pictures!

And the wankel engines is just amazing to listen to. And with a big blower on it I can only imagine the awesome sound and performance from it.

Thanks for shareing your work!

Thanks! Yeah, it's a far cry from the base/stock twin turbo these cars came with. This has a big turbo and a meth kit along with the other $2k or so in fueling system upgrades just to feed it. Fully spooled up on the freeway or track it's a beast. On the open road it pulled even with a new 911 Turbo which is a very stout up top. Woke an unsuspecting driver up that day to what his $135k German car couldn't do which was murder this RX7 ;)

Yeah when they go full out these engines goes very high in rpm. When one of my friends took his engine to a guy who had been racing on the tracks with wankel engines. He was building a engine that was made to handle 11000rpm. This was without a turbo IIRC. My friends engine was a little more friendly to get driven with an automatic gear box. The power in the high tuned engines came very late. Think it was under 4000-5000rpm it did almost nothing. But then when you let it go they was monsters. Think they surprised the racing when they came to begin racing with wankel/ rotary engines. They don't have the same kind of volume in total. So in the restricted classes by volume they sweeped the competion. And IIRC they double the volume count in the classes they where going to be compete in. Also the balance in the race engines was incredible to say the least. When they where on idling even the crazy ones you couldnt see any vibration movements on them.

Oh just some little history about these engines. Think it was that they lacked off power on the lower rpm made them to need more gas than the ordinary engines. So for the production cars the gas mileage was too low.

Awesome story about the 911 vs RX7 :)
