Hi All,

My car is fairly polished and currently coated with powerlock and c845. If I plan to use sonax perfect finish to polish again. Will I need to remove the product on the car currently? Or will the perfect polish cut right through the powerlock?

Thanks,

Finick

I personally would just wash and dry the car, and get right into claying (if needed) and polishing.

I don’t see a ton of value in spending a lot of time and product potentially stripping off something that’ll polish off in a pass or two anyways.

If you enjoy the process though, i can’t imagine how it would possibly hurt anything.

Are you polishing out defects? Or just polishing to reapply more 845? I’d imagine if it’s in good shape you could just apply another coat and skip the entire polishing step altogether.

It’s always best to try to degrade or remove the current LSP chemically before polishing. While PF will remove your current, it can also interfere with polishing results.

Honestly , I think I just did a poor job the first time and really just want to repolish thoroughly.

Any quality polish will chew whatever is on their off.

So do normal pre-buff steps.

1: Wash - waterless wash - rinseless wash - spray detailer

2: Clay if needed

3: Tape-off any trim if needed.

Buff --> :buffing:

Do a Test Spot before buffing out the entire car.

Make sure you're getting the results you hope and dream about.
