Had a request from a friends boss whom does asphalt work. He picked up a new 2018 Peterbilt 389 dump to add to his fleet and had heard about my services and IGL Eclipse industrial coating. So it arrived on Friday evening and bright and early Saturday morning I got started. The initial deal was for them to have the truck all cleaned on the exterior in which they normally have it nice and clean every couple of days. Unfortunately it had to go out on a job Friday so when it arrived it was a bit dirty to say the least lol.

No correction work was being performed here. This was more of a clean and coat type job.

First was to get the dump body and cab cleaned. No messing around here. Hyperwash, LA Awesome and Dawn were all used to get the grime off of this thing.

Next was the frame as that was getting coated as well. This took a bunch of straight APC, scrubbing and pressure washing to get the layer of grime off of it.

Once all the cleaning was done it was time to get to spraying. I used my Iwata lph80 with 1.2 tip at about 9psi. This lays a bit heavier and uses a bit more product but for this application it works nicely.

Once the frame was all sprayed it was onto the dump bed. Same process was used.

For the cab I hand applied and leveled as needed. Making sure to cover all the areas such as grill, bumper, air intakes, backs of mirrors, exhaust stacks. Also the wheels were treated as well. I did do a bit of polishing on the tank and battery box. For that I used my Rupes 21mm Mark ll/swirl killer mini, Rupes yellow pad and Mckees fast aluminum polish.

Then to dress it up. Hyper dressing on the tires lol.

16 hours later, 300ML of product and a serious payday and I'm beat! lol

Awesome work Justin!

Seems like the Eclipse coating did some filling and that's great for a work like this instead of magnify the scratches and swirls. The asphalt trucks can be very nasty if not taken care of almost daily. Very much more the dump bed. Here in Sweden the dump beds is switched to be made of stainless steel. Think it's easier for them to get them clean and also so the asphalt slides easier off the dump bed. Think that they use some kind of petroleum based degreaser on them. And that's coating is very great to chemical resistant to. Must be a breeze for the worker to maintain this truck now. And see many that does these jobs to protect the semi-trucks for an easier maintance for them. I got offered a job on one last summer. But with my physical disability it was too big off a work sadly. He was very interested when he saw how I was protecting my stepfathers Nissan Navarra truck with Gyeon Wet Coat. That could be an option to let them now of these spray on rinse off products. If and when they down the road would like to spruce up the protection. Since many uses PW and fairly often wash the semi-trucks. It's a fast way to use such of product. You could even pour it over in pump pressure spray bottle to not need to be spray a lot and just pump instead. Also they do offers these products in gallons or 5L which is great and those that take care of their trucks it can be much worth for them with the ease of use and the easy maintance after application.

Looking great!

Top job Justin.

What sort of maintenance/reapplication to you recommend for a job like this?

I’m acutely keen to see how this truck and Eclipse fares down the track.

Maintenance is simple. Wash it lol. These aren't meant to be show queens. Eclipse is geared towards this knowing that these aren't going to be pampered.

We will see how things go. But it's rated for 2 years.

Swetm yeah Eclipse has awesome filling abilities when sprayed. It does leave a bit of texture but being on a dump bed or frame its better to have the film build.

Thanks guys. Owner picked up and was very happy. Has another one being built that's smaller and will be coming straight from the factory to me.

What a cool write up, nice work.

Hmm, I wonder how that coating would work on a daily driver frame/differentials etc.

Perfect actually. It's what I use on all my wheel coating and suspension/liners jobs. Did my SS suspension and Moser 9in rear end with it
