I've got the coating on my rims its about 4 months old. I'm getting ready to do a detail. I'm wondering if I should use my mckees foaming gel wheel cleaner on them?

I want to know if it will strip off the coating?

Anybody know?

I'm sure every coating is probably a little different, but I think you should be fine as long as the wheel cleaner isn't too harsh.

I coated the summer wheels on my car with CQuartz two years ago. Despite frequent washings with a mild wheel cleaner, it still held up for a little over two years.

Aren’t the characteristics of this Coating
advertised as having around a 2-year
life-cycle?

If so:
Then, after just 4 months, I don’t see the
need for using such a strong wheel cleaner...
with the possibility of it unduly affecting this
Coating’s self-cleaning effect.

IMO:
Why chance it now?

True but I'm gonna do it anyway because im sure the brake dust can get embedded into the coating??? Either way it's time to recoat the tires so I like to do the rims too.

If the coating comes off that's fine I'm going to top it with supersport wheel coating. It takes about 10-15 min and it looks better anyway.

Thanks for the responses!

If Mckees foaming Wheel cleaner is basically an Iron Remover, I don’t think it will impact the coating too much.

Mark my words - 4 mos on wheels & this coating is already toast - unless you live somewhere with perfect weather. Any APC or acid wheel cleaner will put the final nail in the coffin.
