2019 Lexus LX570
3505 miles

This luxury SUV came in for a sealant and the coating of the light colored leather interior.

For the age and mileage the paint was absolutely hammered! Swirl city, hazy, and lifeless. Unbelievable for a 2019/brand new vehicle!

It left with a 1 step correction and a ceramic coating!

This was the softest paint that I have encountered to date. I used Griot’s perfecting cream and a Rupes yellow pad with 2 passes.

The ‘details’:

SCG Pro shampoo.
Adam’s Tire and Rubber cleaner.
Adam’s Wheel cleaner.
Misc. brushes.
Dried via Griot’s PFM.
DeFelsko PTG.
Scangrip lighting.
Rupes 21 MkII.
Rupes yellow pads.
Misc. MF towels.
Griot’s Perfecting cream.
Adam’s Ceramic paint coating.
McKee’s37 Hi Gloss Tire dressing.
SCG Pro glass cleaner.
Metro vacuum.
Adam’s Interior detailer.
McKee’s 37 Total interior cleaner.
GYEON Leather shield.

Thank you for looking!

Defects...who says new vehicles don't need any correction?!

^^^Thanks! I had a time issue, so I was pleasantly surprised when it corrected so well with a one stepper. I usually never do them, always multiple steps...

Damn that paint was hammered for a new vehicle! What did the dealer do to it, send it through the panel beater every day!?

Interesting you achieved those results with a one step and two passes.

Another awesome job, Scott!

So the Griot's Perfecting Cream knocked out all of those defects?

Wow u did that with 2 pass's? I've never even heard (read) of anybody polishing paint with only 2 passes. U couldn't even do that with diminishing abrasive polishes. I have read the griots is more like a smat polish.

Do u just do that to save time because people don't want to pay?

It's good to know because I was planning to use griots medium with 4-5 passes this summer to save time on a 2 step polish

Mike: As was I!!! I spoke to the owner when he picked it up...told me the car wash they use has brushes!!! Oh no! (not going to be used now!)

Pauly: The paint was VERY soft. Yes, the perfecting cream and yellow Rupes pads did the trick. Some areas may have gotten maybe 3 passes, but I was averaging approx 2 passes and it was correcting very well.

Fight: I actually very rarely do a 1 step correction. I can count on 1 hand how many times I have done them. All are usually 2-3 steps.

This came in for just a sealant and he wanted to interior coated. When I saw the condition of the paint I could not let it go like that with my name on it...so I started to see what it 'liked' and was pleasantly surprised that a finishing pad and polish knocked out the majority of the defects.

That came out awesome and glad to hear it was quick correction work.

I'm guessing the damage is a function of it being very soft. And no more tunnel washes would help.

I've had a few jobs like this where the owners didn't want to spend the money and just wanted it shiny, can't let a car leave looking haggard and shiny. The maroon urofiber heavy polish pads and an AIO are so easy to get proper results to where I'm happy with the detail.

Awesome work Scott!

And WOW that paint had some swirls LOL. Almost looked as it was wet sanded to remove orange peel in some places or very heavy clay marring. But when you mentioned the Perfecting Cream and Rupes yellow pad with 2! passes did get it back. That must be some very soft paint. As mentioned before I think I have not seen before that non aggressive combo doing that kind of correction. And man is this going to be hard to maintain this soft paint. Hope that the coating at least can help them a little to not getting it swirled up again. Would be very interesting to see a follow up on this 6-12 months down the road. Now they can at least be happy for haveing their SUV looking as awesome as it could been from the work you are doing.

Thanks Tony! It was from automatic, with brushes(!), car washes! The one they used, not anymore, had brushes.

Yes, very soft paint, I was shocked.

If I can updated this thread with pics a few months down the road I will!
