Is it necessary to first clay bar if using something like McKees fast compound aggressive cut ? Black paint, no clear coat.

I ALWAYS do the baggie test and determine if paint...any paint...needs to be clayed. If it fails it gets clayed or nanoskinned.

It always makes sense to me to decontaminate and especially before compounding. I don't want any contaminants entering into a paint levelling effort. I want the abrasives and pad to work on clean paint.

(WHOOPS, just noticed this was an "Ask Mike" question but that's my .02 anyway.)

Thanks Paul, makes sense. Guess I'll get the clay bar out.
