Purple spider pads with a AIO.

Would i need more then one pad to apply an all in one polish on a small car like a corolla, like a light purple spider pad, and has anyone tried that pad yet with an AIO?

Yes.

As you work around the car ANYTHING wet that you are applying to a FOAM pad will soak in and soften the pad. When foam gets wet it stops doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Foam cutting pads quit cutting.
Foam polishing pads quick polishing.

Get at least 6 pads for the job and then when you're done, do your best to wash the AIO out of the foam and save them for the next detail job.


By switching to a DRY foam pad often you will do 3 things,

1: Be more effective at removing defects out of the paint.
2: Get the job done faster.
3: Achieve more uniform results and better results overall.

Been there done that a TON in my life.

What I type all the time and I also have an article, (see below), is this,

In a perfect world, when using a compound or an AIO plan on one pad per panel. A 2-door car has 9 panels, thus 9 pads. Because most modern cars have smaller size panels you can easily cut this down to 5-6 pads as front fenders usually don't have as much real-estate as say a door or a hood due to the cut-out.



When the pad is wet with product and feels soggy, it's time to switch to a clean, dry pad. This is for compounding or using an AIO. You don't need as many foam finishing pads when polishing after compounding.

And THIS is why I decided against the spider pad myself.

I'm sure it's a great pad....and if I win the lottery someday maybe I'll buy some...but when I can buy 6 Buff and Shine or Lake Country pads for basically the same cost of two spider pads, economically it's just not feasible for me.
