Hi.

I am trying to restore my vinyl/canvas top on my Lincoln town car. The top has
developed big black marks kind of like a mold. It started with a small black spot and
it seems like the spot has moved all over the top covering it in large areas. I suspect
this is mold.

What are are the best products to clean this? The top is not damaged at all it’s still in
good shape.

also if possible i would like to paint the top black. Can someone guide to the correct paint
for this application. I would prefer spray paint from a can for an easier application.

What color is the top? Light beige? Any pics?

If it was me I’d start off with the Meguiars Convertible Top Cleaner.

It’ll get it pretty clean. For any tougher stains including that mold I’d allow it to dry after going at it with the Meguiars 1-2 times then use Folex as directed. Never scrub Folex in with a brush, just use it like it says on the bottle for best results.

That RagTopp brush he’s using worth the investment. I used Griots convertible cleaner but sure most are same type of detergent. Scrub well and hopefully should be fine. Make sure to protect once clean.

The brush Eldorado is using in the pic. The green one. I’m sure others are good but this one is stiff enough to clean well but does not damage. Fits in hand well. Better than the 8” horse hair one I was using. But at Autogeek or Autopia

One more question guys.

What is a good sealant/protectant for a vinyl/canvas top? That I could apply

I used gtechnic fabric in my top, its cloth so I’d check if it works
