Hey guys,

So I detail on the side been doing it for about 3 years or so, just a handful of cars in the summer so defiantly nothing serious however I just wanted to get your opinion if I'm going about this correctly or maybe I should add/change a step.

Wash Car - Nothing special I use the 2 bucket system with a microfiber wash mitt from Gyeon

Decontamination - While the car is wet I will spray CarPro Trix all over the car, wait a few mins & then hose it down and hand wash it again.

Clay bar - Depending if the car needs it or not I will do this using detailing spray from 3d products (HD Touch)

Paint Correction - For Ceramic Coating, if the car is not to bad I'll usually use Geyon Primer. If the car paint is worse off and Geyon Primer is not working I have Geyon Polish but usually Primer is more then enough.
For non Ceramic Coating I also have 3D Speed that I may use etc.

Pads/process - This is where I'm not sure, I use Uro-Fiber pads from buff & Shine - I have found these work Very well. They will Cut & finish great, much better then foam or dedicated microfiber pads and last long. Usually once done the paint correction using this type of pad I will stop and apply protection, either Ceramic Coating or a Wax and so on depending on what the client wanted.

I see a lot of people follow up with a black foam pad or white finishing pad with I'm not sure what finishing product. When looking at the cars I do it looks great however I'm wondering if I'm missing that little extra shine/gloss by not doing that last finishing pad step? I dont notice any haze but maybe that's because I have not seen it without haze that the finishing pad would remove maybe?

Any opinions? Suggestions?

Thanks

Looks nice but you will dress the tires before calling it done right ?

Nice job. Tires. Drying?

I think you could get more shine if you follow the Uro pad with a white or black pad... if "a lot " of correction is needed then a polish may not level it like a compound or TSR would do.

Here is a 2018 Denali we finished today. Uro and Boss Microfiber pads followed by white polish pad. Just preference and OCD level maybe. Lol. 🤣

Will post the project in show and shine in a sec.

Killer work though! Good job.

Oh... just a small tip... the before pics are what make the whole story come together

Thats my car, I dont generally dress the tires because I race the car on the track & I dont want to get tire shine by accident on the thread and effect grip in a hard corner.

I do have a black soft foam pad that I usually use to apply wax so I could use that. What final product would you recommend for a finishing step? I usually stick with 3d Products/CarPro/Geyon stuff.

Thats my car and because I race it on the race I dont like to put tire shine on to often just because I dont want to get it on the tread by accident or something.

Nice looks good! I dont have to many before and after photos and these were taking last summer.

I like Gyeon. Just use the black pad. Red is usually used to spread wax typically.

Menzerna SF3800. Griots Perfecting Cream. Meguiars 210. HD Polish. Wolfgang Finishing Glaze. SONAX.

Like Mike says... find something you like and use it often...

A good inspection light comes in to see the work during the test spot. And before use a panel wipe product to remove the polishing oils on the test spot and after polishing if coating the paint. Do half of the test spot with the polish or a finishing polish with a finishing pad. Panel wipe down and inspect with the light and see if you get any difference in the finish between what you used to be doing and the finishing polish. So all comes down to evaluate the test spot and decide which way to go.
