Haze when in direct sunlight

I paint corrected and ceramic coated (CarPro CQuartz) my car about 6 months ago. At the time of paint correction, to the naked eye and under a LED torch the paint looked great.


I wash with a two bucket method and regularly apply CarPro Reload. Today I noticed a haze when the sun was directly hitting the car (the car is dirty!)

I took the car back to the garage and under a LED light I still couldn’t spot the haze.


Could this be from incorrect correction technique, bad polishing, dirty polishing pads (?), incorrect washing technique, too much reload… ???


Any suggestions on how to correct this, especially if it's very hard to spot with a LED torch?

What did you use for compounds and polishes?

Cutting compound - Scholl Concepts S3 Gold XXL used with a yellow Shine Mate cutting pad (https://www.waxit.com.au/products/shine-mate-black-diamond-yellow-foam-medium-cutting-pad-4-6-7)
Finishing compound - Scholl Concepts S30+ used with a blue pad (https://www.waxit.com.au/products/shine-mate-black-diamond-blue-foam-intermediate-cut-pad-4-6-7). In hindsight, I think I should have used a red finishing pad (https://www.waxit.com.au/products/shine-mate-black-diamond-red-foam-finishing-pad-4-6-7) instead of blue.

Would a few passes with the School Concepts S3 on a blue pad (to remove the CQuartz) then the S30+ with a red pad resolve this issue?

My initial thought since it looked so nice after the coating application, was that it’s the Reload causing the haze... but I see where Mike is going and he’s much more experienced and clever than I (so listen to what Mike says).

Try using a damp microfiber (use distilled water) to see if too much Reload is your problem. You may have to rub vigorously especially if the Reload has been on there for awhile. Reload can leave haze that is more noticeable on dark cars but shows up in sunlight on light cars. ECH2O does the same thing as do many products, not just ones from CarPro.

Polishing off your coating is a last resort.

Well, blow me down! Washed the car this morning then took it back out into the sunlight to see if the swirls were as prominent as yesterday.

Simple answer, NO! (YouTube (https://youtu.be/tizWlMydtYQ)). There is probably still some light marring but it is no where near what I saw yesterday, which is great news!

rlmccarty2000, you're right, no need to polish the coating which is a relief as Mazda paint is super thin as it is. I will now use a ECH20:Reload:Distilled Water mix and see if this problem presents itself again.

Great! Product hazing is a common problem. On white or light colored vehicles it is difficult to see. The haze really shows up in the sun.
