Removing Swirls Plastic Painted Parts

Hello. Is it just me or is harder to remove defects from plastic painted body parts than other parts of the car? Seems like the rest of the car is easier to find the right combination to get the result you want and you get to a bumper or other plastic area and the defects are much harder to remove. Any comments are welcome. Thank you.

Not sure why your question wasn’t answered but I’ll provide you with my expierence.
Go with the least aggressive solution first and work up to the correction
Many Detailer don’t have a paint gauge for plastics so not knowing the depth of the clear coat requires some guess work.
Plastic parts build up heat faster than metal so watch the speed on buffers and duration.
Interior plastic parts have very thin clear coats and burning through is a real risk. Use light pressure and soft pads with polishing and finishing products.
I like M205 for the most aggressive polish and a white or black finishing pad.
McGuire’s plastic polish is outstanding
I use 1”, 2” and 3” pads on interiors or do a hand finish. Everything in the interior is usually soft and delicate so hand finishing works great.
3” pads work great on bumpers again start off with a finishing pad vs polishing or compounding.

I think it has something to do with the flex agents used in the finishes when it comes to bumper covers. Mileage varies though as some manufacturers are easy and some more difficult.
