Hi folks, sorry if this is a silly question, but I would really appreciate your views on the PE8. What are the maximum backing plates that can be used on it ? Also it will be my first rotary and will primarily be used for small areas of the car, does it require more work to finish down compared to a DA ? or would I be better off buying the mini DA ?

Thanks in advance.

Nick

I'll chime in,

First here's my review

The NEW FLEX PE8 Kompakt Rotary Polisher Polisher in ACTION! (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/86327-new-flex-pe8-kompakt-rotary-polisher-action.html)

Due to the size and thus the ability for it to run cool for long periods of use, the lowest RPM is 1300 - this is fine when using 1", 2" and even 3" pads.

If you want a more versatile rotary buffer, that can turn and churn small pads, medium pads and up to 8" pads, then look at the FLEX PE14 or the RUPES LHR 19E

If you're just doing small work then the PE8 will work fine.

Nick consider the Flex 14-2. IMO its more versatile. You can put an extension on it and run smaller pads or run larger pads. I know the PE8 is smaller and lighter but it cant do what the 14-2 can do w/o stressing it out yet the 14-2 can do everything. Rotary buffers can do finish work but like anything you need the right combination of pads and polishes plus expierence with the tool.
