I want to replace the PSA backing pad on my PC 7334 with a 5-inch 8-hole hook & loop backer to match my other orbitals & stock of discs.
I've read they're not all the same but the product descriptions don't give enough details.
My 7334 is mostly used for fast stock removal working wood, but could also be used with foam pads to cut & polish paint and poly finishes.

Any recommendations?

Get the Griots 5” backing plate.

Back to you - I was on my phone from home in the above reply, hard to type out anything substantial that way...

Here's an article I wrote that has a TON of info in it....

Here's what you need to get into machine polishing - Recommendations for a beginner by Mike Phillips (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Ftinyurl.com%2Fy736nudd)

Including links to 5" backing plates and 5.5" foam pads....

5" Backing plates

Lake Country 5" Backing Plate (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autogeek.net%2Flc43125. html)

Griots Garage 5 Inch Vented Orbital Backing Plate (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autogeek.net%2Fgriots-5-inch-vented-plate.html)

The PC7336 is on the weak side compared to the Griot's 6" ROP so to get the most out of it I would strongly recommend getting THIN pads. Below are two options, both work well. If you get the Griot's backing plate get the Griot's pads. If you get the LC backing plate go with LC ThinPro pads.

Lake Country ThinPro Foam Pad System 5.5 Inch (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autogeek.net%2Flake-country-thinpro-5-inch.html)

5.5 Inch BOSS Pads (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autogeek.net%2Fgriots-boss-5-inch-pads.html)

And all those links are in the actual article PLUS tons of other information for ANYHONE getting into machine buffing.

In fact, in the article is the ONLY explanation of the history of microfiber pads anywhere on the Interweb and the only real explanation of the differences between microfiber and foam pads for orbital polishers.

I'll give the Griot's pad a try since it has the 8 holes to match my sanding discs.

Thank you.
