Depends on what Rupes polisher you buy. The Duetto and 15 es and 15 mkII uses the 125mm/ 5" backing plate. And the Mille comes with both the 125mm and 150mm backing plates. The Rupes 21mm comes with a 150mm/ 6" backing plate. But you can get the 125mm backing plate for the Rupes 21mm longthrow polisher too. The downside is that you get a little more vibrations when you go outside of the Rupes pads and smaller backing plate. Other makers of pads does have some pads that are very simualar the Rupes pads. Lake Country HDO pad comes to mind.
