From the way the eyes appear in the
photo (roundish)...Doesn’t quite look
like it’s a young timber rattler. Perhaps
it’s a juvenile rat snake?

Does it taste like chicken?

I still have a long set of snake tongs from my time in Arizona. Anything on my property, if it didn't rattle, I left it alone. If it rattled, I would drop it in a 5 gallon bucket and call the local snake club to relocate it. People in other states with poisonous snakes that don't have the decency to rattle for you, well, I would just move.

The size, texture, and head shape look a lot like a garter snake.
