Hello everyone. Our Nissan hatchback has been repainted. The car was damaged 6 years a go. The hood and roof were repainted. The clearcoat was failing from the repair. Well, they have repaired the repair. The hood and roof have been resprayed with the PPG Deltron system and it was sprayed for free under warranty.

What do I do now? I was told to not wax the car for 30 days to let the paint cure. I was also told that they believe that acid etching caused the issue. Items such as tree sap and bird dirt. I disagree, I feel that their repair job was not done right in the first place and thus the clear started lifting due to incorrect respray. The car has been hand waxed (before I found out about this site and a DA polisher) using Meguiares and Mothers cleaner waxes 3-4 times a year. No way it was acid etching. Anywho, now what?

I have Mothers Synthetic liquid wax. What do I do now to protect the car? I do not have a car port, garage, or car cover. The car is always outside.

Is there better protection than a wax? If so, what and how?

Thanks for the help.

Has it been over 30 days?

No, it has not been over 30 days yet. I would like to learn more about options to protect the clearcoat so maybe this will not happen again. My solution was not good enough or the clear would not have fail. Unless, it was not my car care technique but rather a failing paint job that I could never have prevented in the first place. It has not been 30 days yet, I want to learn about good/better/best paint protection methods. Is there something better than my Mothers Synthetic wax for example?

After the 30 days a product like Sonax Poly Net Shield might be a good one to try out, ITs easy to apply by hand and sheds water really good. For me I use it as my LSP on all cars unless they ask for something else.

Use a glaze to protect the paint during the 30 day cure time.

You can use Meguiar’s M305 or Optimum Car Wax on fresh paint while it outgasses for those 30 days.

After that you can go back to your longer lasting protection products such as sealant or stick with a wax or all in one.
