Menzerna One Step Polish

First of all, I know that Menzerna has a special one step polish product. But since I have both heavy, medium and fine my thinking was to use one of them as a one step and then finish with the Power Lock. This is to be used on my VW Phaeton which is in good condition and was professionally polished less than a year ago.

I was a bit surprised when I read the product labels on the 400 and 2500. It seems to me that the way they designed this is that 400 is actually a more all round one step product and act as both step 1,2,3 with cut/gloss of 8/8? But of course the cutting effect is maybe unnecessary on a well kept paint...

I'm confused by your post. It's my understanding that they sell several polishes and a few compounds. I'm not aware of a one step in their lineup. I own both 400 and 3500 and use for different applications. Always followup with powerlock. which is great. What you may get with menzerna is a 3 step.

Sorry, if I was unclear:

2. What I meant to say was that I was a bit surprised that the heavy cut 400 is described as a one step, but the 2500 is not (all according to Menzerna). From their product page of the 400: "Saves time thanks to one-step polishing process" .

The do have a one step product and from what I understand it's very good. As for the 400, I believe they mean more of a 1 step in terms of compounding in one step. It doesn't have any wax or protection, so it really couldn't be used as a true one step even if it finished up real nicely.

One polishing step. It was a swirled out mess with heavy water spot etching before I started.That is with no LSP.

Menzerna 3 in 1 is awesome product. Not to sure about the 2 in 1. On certain paints the fg400 will finish out LSP ready. Try the fg400 and see how it does. If it’s not to your liking go over it with the fine then top it with the power lock. Unless you just have very light swirling you really won’t have a need for the 2500 in this case.

Try a couple test spots and see how they turn out and go from there.

Menz 400 is one of my favorites and you could consider it a “one step” product as it cuts and as the product breaks down it becomes a fine polish leaving the paint LSP ready for 95% of the population. I always use 3500 after 400 to get the best possible shine, but I’m picky.

thanks for clarifying. I'll also add that 3500 with a white LC pad leaves a real nice shine and does pretty good for most minor imperfections.

What I like is cut,polish and wax in one application and at 50 bucks for 32 oz it's cheaper than the quart of 3m I usually cut with although I have recently dropped that for M100 Megs.

could you use it after wetsanding and buffing with a 3m product and then use that to finish it out?.

Sonax Red DA Hard Cutting pad and HC400 on a 21mm longthrow polisher. And 4 passes per section on a SS paint that was a little oxidized LOL.

Try the HC400 on a fine polishing pad and move up in aggressiveness of pad if needed. Or switch to SF3500 if you think it's to aggressive. And have also in mind that you use very little of product when polishing with Menzerna polishes.
