The official start day of SEMA is always on Tuesday, Monday is set-up day. This year, Autogeek has opted to forgo having our own booth. We will still have a team of staff from Autogeek attending each of us with unique responsibilities. For myself, I'll be shooting new videos with Yancy where we'll be visiting multiple vendors to showcase new products. I will also be the guest in various booths to answer questions and demonstrate tools, pads, products and techniques. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity as I value the relationships we as a company have forged over the years with these vendors and all of our vendors.

Here's my schedule for SEMA 2018

Fly home!

Yay! First year we won't have to set-up a booth nor tear one down!

Our flight leaves Vegas at 6:15am, this means it boards at approximately 5:45am and this means leaving our hotels on Friday morning around 4:00am and this means getting up around 3:00am... and this means.... getting to be early on Friday night!

If you're attending SEMA this year, please stop by any of the above booths and say hi!

Looks like I'll miss you this year Mike, I won't be able to even make it until Friday and I'm lucky I can even make it that day.

I was thinking of going, but Mike's pic scared me off.

:laughing::laughing:

Kidding aside, I'd love to be there one day.

Yeah I really don't like that picture. That was the production crew for our TV show Competition Ready asking me to look "stern" for a shot in front of the Villain when we shot the first episode in the first season of our TV show "Competition Ready" at SEMA 2016

I like pictures where I'm smiling. Heck I like pictures when everyone is smiling, not looking down or "stern".

Kidding aside, I'd love to be there one day.

It's a very entertaining show if you're a "Car Guy". Lots to see and along with it, lots of walking. It's a huge show but doesn't compare in size to Automechanika. SEMA is a totally different show than Automechanika. While Automechanika includes "elements" of what you see at SEMA - its more about just the "mechanics" of the car industry. For example booth after booth of axels, or brakes, or shocks, or motor oil, etc. They try to make the widgets "cool" but the booths don't include the "cool" cars like you see in SEMA. I've been to Automechanika once and it was great to go to it and I'd go again but it's nothing like SEMA.

Also - going to SEMA to "walk the show" is different than going to SEMA to "work a booth". They are both good, just one is all about the experience and the other is all about making sure the people that come to your booth have a great experience.

Here's a picture of me doing what I normally do year after year and that's demonstrate multiple tools showing how to make black paint look perfect under excruciating lights.

Normally I sand down the panel and then remove 100% of the sanding marks and restore a 100% swirl-free flawless finish. Been doing this at shows since I did my first car show for Meguiar's in 1987, that's 31 years now so I'm pretty good at it. Put it this way, if I'm standing in front of a black hood sanding it down, in a few minutes it's going to look as good and usually better than the cars on display.

But that picture above would resemble most of my booth time at SEMA. It's also when I wrote this article,

Mind Blowing - Rupes Blue Foam Cutting Pad and Zephir Gloss Coarse Gel Compound (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/75273-mind-blowing-rupes-blue-foam-cutting-pad-zephir-gloss-coarse-gel-compound.html)

Looking forward to working in the Lake Country booth and getting to demonstrate the new UDOS

I just realized that I will be in Las Vegas at the same time. I should have bought a pre-order tkt. Maybe the one and only time I'll ever get to go to SEMA.

I decided to remove the picture, it simply isn't a flattering picture.

Mike,

looking forward to the UDOS video and info. Hopefully some specs will be available - OPM, motor power, weight, brushless (?) etc.
