So a client came by and said the paint developed these cracks and staining after a mobile washer washed the car. They won't Polish out at all. Meg's MF cutting pads and any compound from Meg's, jescar, menz, Griot's nothing is removing them. Could it be acid burn??https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180831/01b7756c53c293b8e34fb6a006fcccee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180831/de39e930e9f8577fb09f05852cb8e4b7.jpg

Is that a painted plastic panel or metal? or is it on both. That's a weird pattern on the cracks

Hard to see from pics, but I wonder if you're onto something with the acid burn notion. :(

The pattern looks like you would expect from a fluid that dried on the paint.

It kind of looks like clear coat lifting up

I assume you used the same wash method you always use?? I would say paint defect. Awfully new for CC failure. I would have him check with Ford. Definitely strange.

The first picture looks like cracking paint, the other look something definitely sat on the paint for a while. What was your wash process?? I assume you were in the shade. Did you use any type of acid, or iron X or anything along those lines??

The post is a little confusing, did you do the wash, or someone else did and you damaged the paint trying to correct it??

It was washed by a mobile washer here in town, the damage was noticed the next day.

The client asked me to try and Polish it out which has left it in the last pics where the center is cleared but the outer parts are still messed up

Can your client contact that mobile guy to ask him what he used on the paint?

I'm sure he/she is really upset. I know I would be.

I even tried to wet sand and I can't figure out what's going on. There is no paint transfer from the area in the center that's clearing up.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180831/0715bca15133a264307bbefd81dd1e33.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180831/ebd22893ee5f583bf31e608b7e76275a.jpg

I used a Speedy Prep Towel to clay a black Mercedes a couple of weeks ago and when I went to wipe up/dry off the claylube after the panel [hood] was done it looked somewhat similar to how this looks in your pic.

Except in my case it looked as if every little microscratch that the clay towel had induced was temporarily visible like a dry lake bed on the hood. Did I freak? Yea momentarily, but it all disappeared once the panel fully dried. I applied sealant and everything’s been fine since. I dunno what it was or what caused it to happen... I’m just glad it went away.

If I were you I’d hit it with a dedicated panel wipe and give it time...

Btw what kind of person doesn’t know what kind of car shampoo they used just a couple of days ago? How stupid is that??

Not sure what you mean by “paint transfer”, but if you are expecting paint on your polishing pad you won’t get any since it’s clear coat, unless you go through the clear, which you don’t want to do.
