Mystery pic of the day?... Any ideas

Hi to all. So we did AA 2014 or 2015 Range Rover Evoque. The consul had this on it. We tried water OPC alcohol and citrus based adhesive remover. No luck. Owners wife's vehicle. He had no idea.

Almost looks embedded now. Was not able to get it off.

Any ideas as to what it may be? And/or how to remove..

Looks like it's etched in. Soda residue? You know they say if you want to get rid of a body soak it in Coke or something (never tried that myself). I guess there's more than one spot? Or are all those pictures of the same spot? That's going to be tough because anything abrasive is going to change the look of the brushed aluminum (if that's what that is).

I would try a solvent before I gave up...I realize you said you tried IPA, I'd try something like acetone, just be really careful to keep it off of any surrounding plastics...and maybe try it on that aluminum in an inconspicuous spot, first...who knows what that material really is or what coating it might have on it.

I would try using a pink eraser on it. Works a lot like a magic eraser. But won't mar as easily.

Thank you for the suggestions. The owner took possession of the vehicle today but I do work with him he just down the road a bit.

The suggestion that it may be spilt soda might be it It's not really aluminum it's fake aluminum. Lol. The owner said they tried cleaning it as well and maybe what they did added to the damage. Thanks again for the responses

it could be Blairs Ultra Death hot sauce that melted itself onto the plastic because if anything could it would be that,,5 alarm stuff.

Looks like whatever it is - it has etched or eaten into the surface.

One real simple thing you could try is water and time.

Place a wet microfiber towel on the area. The towel will hold water against the offending substance and over time, if it can be softened and dissolved the combination of time and water may do the trick. If water and time does not help then probably nothing will.

To my eye, it looks like the faux aluminum got chipped/scratched off and you're seeing the underlayer. If it was a stain, you wouldn't think it'd look to be on a different plane than the rest of the surface.
I see it a lot where door trims get beaten through by people flinging the seat belt off so the buckle hits the trim.

That's pretty disappointing a '15 Rover doesn't have real aluminum or at least a better facsimile if that's what they have for trim!
