Yesterday we held a free car detailing class here at Autogeek. We started at 4:00pm and were finished at 6:45pm. That's 2 hours and 45 minutes to,


Clean 8 wheels and tires
Chemically decontaminate the paint on both cars with SONAX Fallout Remover
Foam Gun Wash with BLACKFIRE Foam Soap
Rinse both cars well
Mechanically decontaminate with BLACKFIRE Foam Soap and Clay Mitts
Rinse well
Dry with Guzzler Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towels and the Master Blaster
Tape-off with 3M Green Painter's tape and Autogeek Cover-up towels.
Machine polish with Pinnacle Jeweling Wax and foam "polishing" pads
Hand apply SONAX Polymer Net Shield - wipe off with RUPES microfiber towels.
Take the beauty shots and the group shots
Stick a fork in both cars and kick them out the door

Below you'll find the pictures showing the holograms in the paint when I took pictures OUTSIDE using bright overhead sunlight. You can also see them in this picture using the SCANGRIP Sunmatch Swirl Finder Light. The holograms are the wispy lines running vertical intermixed in the circular swirl scratches.

The paint on the Chevy Spark was in fairly good shape and the swirls buffed out quick and easy with the Pinnacle Jeweling Wax.

Anyone that's used this product knows what I'm talking about. It's about durability and how this product creates a hydrophobic surface that sheds water easily. And this is primarily what we like about ceramic paint coatings, that is they last a long time and create a hydrophobic surface that sheds water. The water shedding, that is high surface tension which cause water beading also makes the surface self-cleaning because as the water leaves the surface it takes anything else on the surface off with it, thus self-cleaning.

The thing about SONAX Polymer Net Shield is it's a lot easier to apply than most coatings and you can apply it to dang near any surface material, at least most car surface materials and by this I mean the primary surface materials found on the outside of a car, i.e. paint, glass and plastic.

It's NOT for a dirty, contaminated surface, so treat this product like a "finishing wax" or a "finishing sealant", that is the paint must first be clean and smooth to the touch, basically after you have done at least one machine polishing step after washing and claying. The apply to a small section at a time, wait about a minute and then wipe that section before moving onto a new section.

I tend to apply this to the hood, roof and trunk lid over any cleaner/wax I'm using when detailing a customer car. It's the horizontal surfaces that take the most beating from Mother Nature and also it's these surfaces that most people focus on when "looking" at a car. It's fast, only requires a small amount of product and it dramatically extends the water beading and protection of any cleaner/wax.

WE found the paint on the Mustang to be of the soft side of "medium". Definitely wasn't hard.

Everyone was using "polishing" pads for the Jeweling Wax. No cutting pads. Dan did switch over to both a black foam finishing pad and a white and red super soft finishing and waxing pads to try to avoid micro-marring in the paint.

More people, with focused attention makes quick work of detailing a car.

We should set up a time-lapse video for the Friday and Saturday portion of our 3-day class here when we detail 12 cars, (usually incredibly cool cars). The garage sounds like a Hornet's Nest when you get anywhere from 15 to 20 polishers all buzzing at the same time.

Same thing for my 2-day roadshow classes. For example this last one in Wisconsin we detailed 12 cars in 2 days. Requires focused attention and direction and that's my job. No mistakes.

In person, the Mustang looks just as good as you see in the pictures. The Jeweling Wax works great and ANYBODY using it can turn a diamond in the rough into a glistening gemstone.
