I coated my Corvette a couple of months ago using Sonax cc36 with great results. I have some material left over and don't plan on saving it until I recoat the car at some point in the future not knowing the shelf life. I contemplated ceramic coating my wheels - polished chrome. The Sonax literature says to be used on "painted surfaces", so I'm assuming it would be risky to do the wheels with it. Can someone definitively say whether it would be safe or not? In the absence of a definitive yes or no, I'll most likely do a little more research and purchase ceramic coating specifically for wheels. Ceramic coating the car greatly reduces the frequency of washings. However, I can take the car out of the garage and when I return, I have to clean the brake dust off the wheels every time. The simple answer would be to go to ceramic brakes, but with only 11,000 miles on the car, I would like to avoid changing just for the sake of changing.

Thanks for any help.

Should be fine. Try it on one wheel and see how it works out.

It’s a decent paint coating.
