View Full Version : Sealant exposed to direct sunlight while curing

Sealant was applied in the garage. But our house faces west, so after about an hour the car's front bumper and a section of the hood were exposed to sunlight.

While buffing off the sealant, the aforementioned panels of the car were very hot... Would this decrease the effectiveness of the sealant - longevity, protection, etc?

Thanks in advance

IMO:
-Sun exposure won't decrease
a Sealant’s overall effectiveness.

-However, having it exposed to moisture,
within a 12-24hr immediacy, just might.
[That is, of course, unless it’s one of the
“water-activated” Sealants: Spray-On/
Rinse-Off (SO/RO).]

I agree with Bob, except the only sealant I’ve seen mentioning to keep out of sun while curing was PA Master Sealant. On the opposite end, oldie Liquid Glass L-100 recommended baking in the sun during curing.
