Hi to all. I switched jobs after 20 years of being a therapist. Polishing paint for a while. They asked me to look at a truck hood they were converting to a police pursuit vehicle. A side business he does.
There seems to be spots that won't come off with anything I threw at it. ONR on the hood. Clayed with synthetic clay and a medium clay bar. Nada. IronX. HD speed on the hood. Came back and spot buffed a few spots and nada.
A kid was able to "flake" a spot on a different truck and it left a "halo" of sorts that can't be buffed out. The dealership last year had to have insurance out to pay for wet sanding if said spots and in some cases repaint.
Trucks were a 2018 Silverado and a 2018 Dodge. Paint on Silverado was 2.5 mil in doors and 4.5 to 4.8 on the hood so not much paint anyway. Dealership is also across the street from a factory. Makes gears. I told them it's probably fallout but would ask you kind folks to see and to see if there was a remedy outside wet sanding.
Thanks
Ryan
