Exterior Trim Sealants

I noticed that Wolfgang makes an exterior trim sealant. Does anyone else make a comparable product? When I search for "Exterior trim sealant," all I get is the Wolfgang product.

It's my favorite. Others may like something else, but I really like it.

I'm in the market for something like this too. Just got a vehicle with lots of textured black plastic on the exterior. It's all still in good condition, so now's the time to protect it. I've always known about WETS, but are there any other options?

McKee’s Plastic Trim Restorer. It advertises lasting months, not weeks. Directions don’t specify if it can be used on rubber, but I’m guessing it can.

Meg’s Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer. It claims weeks. Can be used on rubber.

I noticed that Wolfgang makes an exterior trim sealant. Does anyone else make a comparable product? When I search for "Exterior trim sealant," all I get is the Wolfgang product.
CarPro PERL:
Gives a very deep black, but doesn't last long. Gets streaky as rain washes it away, and will be washed away fully after a few rainy days. Because of that I suggest you only apply it to areas that are not exposed directly to rain - like engine bay, car interior.

Meguiar's Ultimate Black:
Give a less deep black, but lasts a lot longer even on surfaces that are directly exposed to rain. It still gets washed away by rain, but it takes a lot longer, and some of the darkening effect still seems to linger around even after months.

CarPro DLUX or Gtechniq C4:
These are not actually sealants, but semi-permanent trim coatings. They last a LOT longer than any of the above coatings (up to a year or so), but they're very expensive and very finicky to application. You need thorough preparation or you will get uneven, streaky results, which will now be virtually permanent and hard (if not impossible) to correct (well, at least up to the year mark). Also, they're not as dark as the best sealants, but still give you decent results, which lasts.


There are also trim restorers which contain (black) color pigments / dye. They're essentially like paint. They give you the best results in terms of deepness of black and color restoration, but they're also relatively expensive, and with time might fade unevenly, and depending on the dye used, even discolor (turn for ex. from deep black to black with a purplish tint).

Gyeon preserve

I'll see your Gyeon Preserve and raise you a Gyeon Trim. Applied (Trim) to wife's daily/winter driver around October 2016, 12k miles later, still looking good.

I have had fantastic results with the McKess trim restorer. So much that I added another bottle my last order.

Might get a bit of hate for this.....but I am using the old Megs Paint Protect 365. I was not a fan on paint, but for plastic and trim I like it. My test mule truck, I did the bed rail caps and left a control section, and after a year there is still a noticeable difference. And besides, I need to use up the 5 bottles I got on clearance for $4ea:xyxthumbs:
